ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

 

The governing board of the Institute is referred to as the Council. The council is the highest organ of the Institute. Decisions of the Council are implemented by the secretariat.The council of the institute consist of the following :
i. Seven (7) grade members elected by the members of the Institute.
ii. Representative of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
iii. Representative of Investment Promotion Commission
iv. Representative of Federal Ministry of Education
v. Representative of University where Pension Management is being taught
vi. Representative of Polytechnic where Pension Management is being taught.

The National Secretariat is headed by the Executive Secretary. There are five departments at the secretariat viz :

i. Office of the Executive Secretary
ii. Finance and Account Department
iii. Communication Department
iv. Training Department
v. Research and Technical Department

 
 
  THE COUNCIL MEMBERS
  ALHAJI UMARU KWAIRANGA (FCIP) President of CPIN

An MBA Graduate with 16 years cognate experience in banking, manufacturing and trading as well as an active player in the capital market at a high level.  A well-traveled executive who attended courses and training in fields relating to the money and capital markets with reasonable knowledge of corporate governance practices. Kwairanga has core competencies in Corporate Banking,  Capital Market, Construction, Financial Advisory Services and Pension Management.
He is currently Board member of Ashaka Cement Plc. Penman Pensions Ltd, Finmal Finance Co. Ltd and Gombe United Micro Finance. He is a Fellow  of The Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria. He is the Managing Director/Chief Executive of Finmal Finance Co. Ltd, a stockbroking firm based in Abuja.

   
 

MAZI OKECHUKWU UNEGBU (FCIP)1st Vice President of  CPIN

He was past president of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN). He holds the following qualifications: Bsc (Hons) Finance. Institute of Bankers London, M.Sc (Banking and Finance), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (FCIB). Associate of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers. (ACS), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Barrister atLaw (BL). Member of the Institute of Chartered Mediators & Conciliators (CHMC).Mr. Unegbu has worked in various Financial Institutions such as African Continental Bank of Nigeria Plc

1972 - 1977.  Nigeria Institute of Social and Economic Research, Ibadan 1978-1979.  First Bank of Nigeria Plc 1979 - 1990. Broad Bank of Nigeria Limited 1990 - 1991.Progress Bank of Nigeria Plc 1991-1996.Maxi Fund Investment and Securities Limited 1996-2005. He was the Chairman/Chief Executive of Progress Bank of Nigeria Plc between September 1995 - 1996.  Director PBN Finance & Trust Company Limited between April 1992 October 1993.  Founder and Director of Ogbe Community Bank Limited 1991 till date.  He was a Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (Chartered Stockbroker) of Maxi Fund Investment & Securities Limited between April 1997 May 9 2005.  He is a visiting lecturer in Law of Banking, University of Lagos 2001 till date.  Associate Consultant with Financial Institution Training Center (FITC) 1996 - 2001 till date. Chairman JIC Governance Plus Rating The Pioneer Corporate Governance Rating  Agency in Nigeria 2004 till date.  He was the Managing Director/Chief Executive of Citizen International Bank Plc before the merger into Spring Bank Plc.. He is the President of Institute of Certified Credit Administrators.  He is fellow of The Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria.

 
 

MR CHUCKS ONUOHA (FCIP) 2nd Vice President

Mr. Onuoha is a trained research Political Economist. Born in Lagos State, Nigeria He attended the famous Baptist Academy Obanikoro, Lagos between 1977 and 1984, where he obtained both West African Examination Certificate and higher School Certificate in good standingsHe holds honours degree at both graduate and post graduate levels in Political Economics from the University of Lagos. He also holds Law degree from University of Ibadan. He obtained advanced accounting and consultancy training with the accomplished accounting firm of Deloitte Haskins & Sells (now Delloitte Akintola Williams) and experience in (virtually all areas of core banking

having solidly positioned himself to scale the challenges of modern banking successfully. Mr. Onuoha’s banking carrier commenced in 1993 with diverse experience in financial control, strategy and support, enterprises wide risk management, credit analysis, corporate & commercial banking and branch management. He is currently a relationship Manager with Intercontinental Bank Plc. He has attended numerous banking, management and leadership courses in some of the leading training centres of the world. His strength is in consultancy, talent management, technology integration, business development and banking.He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and a Council member of the Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria

   
 

ALHAJI AHMAD RABIU (FCIP) Treasurer

Ahmad Rabi’u is an Accounting Graduate from Kaduna Polytechnic and Master of Business Administration (MBA) Bayero University Kano (1991). Member of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (CNA), Institute of Logistic (UK), CITN, NIM. He is a fellow of CIPN. He has the following work experience, President / Chief Executive Officer of Mashasha Investment Company Limited (Mashasha Investments was the first Organisation to be registered by the Securities & Exchange Commission as Corporate Investments Advisers under the Investment & Securities Act 1999).

He is the Managing Partner of Ahmad Rabi’u & Co. Professional Accountants, Chartered Tax Practitioners and Finance Management Consultant since 1999 till date. He was Group Accountant of Dantata Organisation Limited ( a Conglomerate over forty Companies) 1990 to 1999.Ahmad Rabi’u served the nation in various capacities which include: Member Ministerial Committee on the Implementation of the Cabotage ACT 2003. Also Deputy Chairman of the Vessel Financing Fund sub Committee, Member Ministerial Committee on prioritized Action plan for the Recitation and Revitalization of the Nigeria Railway Corporation, Member Board of Trustee Cargo Defence Funds. Member Port Consultative Council (PCC) of the Nigeria Member of NACCIMA.He is the current National President of Federation of Nigeria Shippers Association (2003 to date). He is on the board of many reputable companies such as Finetex Limited Kaduna, Funtua Cotton Seed Crushing Co. Limited, Bebeji Oil & Allied Products Co. Limited, Kano Klin Limited, Apparel Communication Limited, Trans Royal Limited e.t.c

   
  CHIEF FEMI ODUFOWOKAN (FCIP) Council Member
He is a lawyer of many years standing (LL.B, & BL). He holds a master degree in Law (LL.M) and specialises in International Commercial Law. He is a Chartered Tax Practitioner (ACTI), and a Chartered Marketer (ACIM). He is a member of both the Canadian Institute of Marketing and American Marketing Association, a fellow and Council member of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (FNIM). He is a member of the National Institute of Pension Administrator (NIPA, USA) a fellow of the Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria. He is the author of Best Selling Book: “Pension

and Gratuity Law in Nigeria. He was a Director of Global Trade Consortium Limited. He is the chairman of Stocks Selector Associates Ltd and currently head of Chambers of Chief Femi Odufowokan & Co. and Managing Director of Davkan Properties Limited, a Properties Investment Company and a Director of Oratouch Nigeria Limited, IT Company based in Lagos. He has presented several papers on Pension, Social Security, Finance, Management and Law at many capacity building programmes in Nigeria and abroad.
